ATTENDANCE was up more than seven-fold at Lowick Agricultural Show after last year’s washout.
Only 200 turned up last year, but 1,500 people lapped up the sunshine at the 157th event on the fields in Lowick Bridge on September 6.
Show secretary Les Ingram. “It’s a great little show with its own identity and there’s quite a different atmosphere to last year.”
MORE TOP STORIES: The crowds had much to chose from including watching Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling, hill and track races, hound trails plus pet and sheep dog contests.
There was also the usual home produce and handicrafts on display and the prestigious cattle, sheep and horse and ponies competitions.
Winning best in show for cattle was Maidenlands Hercules, an 18-month-old British Blue born and bred by Dean Saunders at Maidenlands Tarn, at Marton, near Lindal-in-Furness.
And scooping best in show for sheep was James Capstick with his Swaledales from his farm in the Whicham Valley.
