Vehicle fire causes traffic chaos on the A590

Firefighters were called just after 7am to a collision involving a HGV and a van in Lindale. 

The van was said to be 'well alight' and crews used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.

The incident affected traffic Witherslack and Levens.

Buses were cancelled or delayed and diversions were in place.

Earlier tpday Cartmel Priory CE SChool said the accident on the A590 would affect school transport. It Tweeted: "Allithwaite children will be picked up slightly late so please stay at the bus stop."

LMC buses travelling from Walney, Barrow, Grange & Ulverston subject to delay due to congestion and closure of A590 following an accident.
