A SCANTILY clad man was reported to police after offending pedestrians in Windermere.
Cumbria police attended the scene after locals reported ‘quite a large man walking naked up the street’.
When they arrived at Windermere, yesterday afternoon, they found the 54-year-old was not naked, but had been sighted in his car after driving to Windermere wearing only his boxer shorts.
The incident follows reports made to police of a man walking naked at Haweswater Reservoir, near Shap, last month, wearing only thin-rimmed spectacles.
A police spokeman said recent ‘naked’ sightings throughout Cumbria were likely to be a consequence of the hot weather and people ‘failing to realise they might cause offence’.
The 54-year-old was arrested on suspicion of being over the legal limit, taken to Kendal police station and charged with failing to provide a breath test. He will appear at South Lakeland Magistrates court on August 15.
