POLICE are investigating Lancaster’s second bomb scare in less than a week after a house raid in the city centre sparked concerns this morning.

Lancashire police raided a house, on Lune Street, Lancaster, at 9am Wednesday (September 22) following this incident the bomb squad have been called in and a number of roads shut down.

People living on Lune Street have been advised by police to stay in their homes and no one has been allowed on Morecambe Road and Lune Road.

Residents from Millennium House have been evacuated and the Greyhound Bridge has also been closed down

Only five days ago at the city’s castle a suspect car parked close to Castle Hill prison lead to the bomb disposal team carrying out a controlled explosion on a Renault Scenic.

The vehicle had been left near the castle with a battery and wires on show.

Roads were sealed off for six hours and residents evacuated.

The vehicle, which had Irish number plates, belonged to an elderly man who was on holiday.
