A flourishing high-tech business has taken on five new staff after securing financial assistance from the Kendal Employment Development Fund.

K2 Media has proved a real success story since being formed five years ago by business partners Jonathan Kennedy and Steve Kitchen.

The pair were among the first to spot the huge potential for selling content for mobile phone downloads and they have not looked back since. Turnover reached the £2 million mark last year, and the business is forecasting a 25 per cent growth rate in the coming year.

It moved to much larger offices at Kendal’s Riverside Business Park last summer, and today employs 17 staff and expects to recruit another half a dozen over the next 12 months.

For more details about the Kendal Employment Development Fund, visit the council’s website at www.southlakeland.gov.uk/business or contact Jacki Robinson, regeneration officer at SLDC, on 01539-717392.
