Multiple fire crews were needed on Thursday night after a car caught fire on the M6.
Reports were made at around 7:50pm on April 11, with the burning vehicle located between J36-37 northbound.
Responders from Milnthorpe Fire Station worked in tandem with crews from Kendal and Sedbergh to deal with the incident.
A spokesperson from Milnthorpe Station commented: "On arrival we found a car well alight on the hard shoulder.
"Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using one hose reel jet applying around 3400 litres of water were able to extinguish the fire."
The motorway was closed for around 30 minutes to ensure crew safety, with the weather conditions said to be working against them.
Fire crews were on scene for roughly one hour before handing over to the highways agency.
