THE next performance in the 2016 Grange-over-Sands Concert Club season features the acclaimed pianist Sarah Beth Briggs.

A leading recitalist, concerto soloist and chamber musician, she plays the seaside town's Victoria Hall, on Friday, April 8 (8pm).

Sarah's professional career was launched at the age of 11 when she became (at the time) the youngest ever finalist in the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition, and four years later was the joint winner of the International Mozart Competition in Salzburg. She has performed worldwide, including prestigious appearances with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, and with all the major British orchestras. Renowned not only for her performances but also for her engaging and informative introductions to recital programmes, Sarah is a popular artiste at societies and festivals and has been acclaimed by promoters and critics alike. Her Grange programme will include works by Chopin, Debussy, Haydn and Beethoven, including the Pathetique Sonata.

Friday, May 6, sees the extraordinary talented students of Chetham's Music School grace the Grange club's series, works by Mozart, Chausson, Janacak and Brahms feature in the programme of violinist, Savitri Grier, and pianist, Richard Uttley, on Friday, June 3, and on Friday, July 8, Julian Bliss, regarded as one of the world's finest solo clarinettists, performs accompanied on piano by James Ballalieu.

The outstanding trio of Sam Haywood, piano, Matthew Huber, cello, and Maria Wloszczowska, violin, are in the spotlight on Friday, August 5, and completing the popular series line-up on Friday, September 9, will be the much praised Zelkova Quartet, formed at the Royal Northern College of Music in 2010.
