COMMUNITY radio station Eden FM is back on air for a 28-day trial period.
In what is its third stint of broadcasts, the service is offering programmes on 87.6 FM until December 22 from its Penrith studios.
Run by a team of volunteers, Eden FM boasts a full daytime, evening and weekend schedule, including breakfast show Wake Up With Sian, presented by Sian Whittaker, the morning show with Martin Cowin, lunchtimes with Matty Buck and Afternoon Delight with Stef Yourell.
The station was formed in the summer of 2011 when a group of interested volunteers met for the first time to discuss the idea of a community radio station for Penrith and the Eden Valley.
Work started on the construction of studio premises at the Cumbria Mini Centre, Ullswater Road Garage, Penrith, in autumn 2011, and its first trial broadcast took place last November and December.
Following a refit of the studio earlier this year, programmes re-started online this spring and continued during summer to tie in with the second trial FM broadcast.
During that time, it covered many of the summer’s events, including live coverage of the Olympic Torch relay in Brough and Penrith.
Since then, the number of volunteers has grown steadily.
