Wild Oceans events for National Seafood Week, September 5-21 Friday, September 5, Wild Oceans Taster, 7.15pm-10pm.

Learn more about the Wild Oceans campaign with local celebrity chef Nick Martin and Cumbria Wildlife Trust’s Catherine Hooper - a delicious buffet taster of less-common seafood options and talks on good and bad fisheries practices, as well as how to choose sustainably-caught fish at your fishmonger or restaurant.

Thursday, September 11, Westmorland County Show A chef will demonstrate how to cook sustainable seafood and give out free tasters. Information about Cumbria’s marine life and why our seas need better protection will also be available.

Saturday, September 13, Fabulous Fish Evening-Demo & Dine, 6.30pm-10pm.

LucyCooks at Staveley is hosting an evening of inspiring fish and seafood cookery to encourage consumers to buy and eat sustainable seafood. Nick Martin will demonstrate and serve two fish courses as well as dessert while also providing a host of hints and tips on how to select seasonal fish and choose sustainable varieties. Each participant will receive a Wild Oceans pack which will include recipes and information about which species are best to buy. Catherine Hooper will also be on hand to chat about the Wild Oceans Campaign.

South Walney Nature Reserve Open Day will celebrate the wildlife and history of the area through guided walks to see the seals and a sustainable seafood demonstration and taster session. No admittance charge.
